Music and merriment were the order of the evening, to raise funds for local organisations
Over 500 enthusiastic supporters attended ‘Autumn Breeze 2013,’ the Lions Club of Lyndhurst & District’s annual fundraising event recently. Held at the Springvale Town Hall, the fundraiser proved to be ‘a five star experience with the wow factor apparent right from the start’, according to one of the guests. “The creative décor, the sumptuous food and the wonderful entertainment made it a night never to be forgotten,” commented another guest. For most of the night, guests danced happily to the beats of popular band ‘Misty’ with DJ Ash. They also relished the food catered by Desmond Foulstone from Silverline Catering.
In his formal message, Cuthbert Don Paul, President of Lions Club of Lyndhurst & District, acknowledged the support of all the sponsors, particularly Rodney Oldham of Golden Logistics, Sean Dixon of Harvey Norman, Springvale and RACV Noble Park. He thanked the organising committee and club members for their tireless efforts in making the event a success. Special mention was made for the contributions made by Lions committee members Malik Zaveer, John Turner, Nikki Jayawickreme, Lionel Alwis, Ajith Amarasekera and Benjamin Parker. Lions Mitzy, Sandra and Sarla also received special thanks from the President.
The Lions Club of Lyndhurst & District has been holding events such as these since 2009 to help the local community and to provide much-needed funds for various causes. This year, a part of the funds collected were donated to the Galilee Special Accommodation home in Noble Park. The funds will enable the home (for the disabled) to purchase additional furniture for their café. The rest of the funds are yet to be allocated and according to Cuthbert, the board of directors will decide very soon as to who will receive a donation on reviewing various wishlists provided to them by local organisations.
