Indian Link was recently invited to the traditional afternoon tea hosted by Prime Minister Scott Morrison at Kirribilli Lodge. Members of both Australian and Indian teams met with the PM and his wife, Jenny. Captains Tim Paine and Virat Kohli spoke at the event too.
Paine said, “The way the Indian team has played, the spirit, has been fantastic. The way you’ve played has certainly helped the Australian public fall back in love with cricket.”
Next, Kohli was invited to the stage to speak. The Indian skipper said, “Thank you very much for inviting us here. About our team playing here in Australia, it presents probably our biggest challenge in world cricket. When you walk into the stadium, you can see that the entire stadium wants you to get out – that’s what you’re up against. And that’s the greatness of the sports culture here. I just want to tell our boys that the way we’ve played in the last three tests here will stay with us forever.”
