Sydney-based poet Nimeesha Gupta chats with Ekta Sharma on Indian Link Radio podcast Parindey

‘Parindey’ is a term that suits Nimeesha Gupta perfectly. It is Hindi for ‘birds’, and she remarks herself that it describes her own life as the wife of a diplomat. (She is married to Consul General of India in Sydney Manish Gupta).

In other ways as well, it is a term that describes quite aptly her activities through which the Indian community in Sydney has come to know her – flitting around from one community event to another, leaving her indelible impressions in her characteristic gentle style.

Here Ekta Sharma, head of Indian Link Radio, draws her out on her latest interest – poetry. Nimeesha finally took to writing during the recent pandemic lockdowns, after harbouring the passion for long. Her works include reflections on celebrations, relationships, and the idea of home – wherever that might be.
