Raf-Saperra (Sydney Festival)

If any artist best represents the musical melting pot of South London in 2025, it’s Adeel Sardar Khan, better known as Raf-Saperra. Originally breaking out as a filmmaker, the Streatham Hill-raised firebrand found his musical spark by colliding the Punjabi folk music that shaped his early life with the hip-hop that moved the streets around him.

Blowing up with the one-two punch of UK garage throwback “N.L.S. (Nach Le Soniye)” and the grimier “Modern Mirza’’, both featured on his 2023 EP Ruff Around The Edges, Raf-Saperra has barely paused for breath. Following a standout Boiler Room showcase in London celebrating Punjabi music, the rap chameleon  released a bold new EP, Renaissance, featuring the bilingual banger “Ni Billo”.

Saperra’s bhangra-laced bangers have stormed dancefloors from Berghain to Glastonbury. Don’t sleep on this superstar in the making.
