Sydney’s big Bollywood moment is back and it’s serving up a cinematic feast! 🎬 After a brief hiatus, the Indian Film Festival of Sydney is returning this October for three days of unforgettable storytelling, and it’s kicking off in style with Full Plate, the latest film by acclaimed actor-turned-director Tannishtha Chatterjee.

Starring Kirti Kulhari, with Sharib Hashmi, Monica Dogra, and Indraneil Sengupta, Full Plate has already created a buzz after being selected for the Busan International Film Festival. The film follows a Muslim homemaker in Mumbai whose world is turned upside down when her husband’s accident pushes her to earn a living sparking both personal transformation and tension at home.

Tannishtha calls opening the festival “a full-circle moment,” saying the film was born out of grit, hope, and some of the toughest chapters of her life. Festival director Mitu Bhowmick Lange AM agrees: “Full Plate” isn’t just a film it’s a testament to why Indian cinema matters: it entertains, challenges, and heals.

Beyond the opening night, expect over 15 films across languages and genres, panel discussions, filmmaker Q&As, and plenty of opportunities to soak up the magic of Indian cinema.
