Whether you’re a ghazal fan or not, you’re still likely to have heard about the King of Ghazals, Jagjit Singh.

For music lovers, his voice acutely captured the love and loss of the words he sang. For people who weren’t so familiar, he made ghazals easy for the common man, using simple words and letting the music shine instead.

In this podcast on the occasion of Jagjit Singh’s 80th birth anniversary, RJ Samay shares but a few of his favourite memories of Singh, including some words with the maestro himself.

He even gets an anecdote about how Jagjit Singh collected Rs 1 crore for Mehdi Hasan… you’ll have to listen in to find out why!
