An Afternoon with Onir
Acclaimed Indian queer filmmaker ONIR is coming to Sydney.
When the Indian government called the portrayal of a gay army officer “a threat to national security,” filmmaker Onir made the film anyway.
This Mardi Gras, Trikone Australia is bringing one of South Asia’s most celebrated queer filmmakers to Sydney for two unmissable events.
Join National Award-winning director Onir for an intimate session on queer storytelling, authentic representation, and independent filmmaking.
What to Expect:
– Onir’s journey from My Brother Nikhil to his latest work, We Are Faheem & Karun (the first Kashmiri-language LGBTQI+ film).
– Screening of a short film made entirely on smartphones by students in Kashmir
– Behind-the-scenes insights on authentic casting, actor workshops, and inclusive storytelling.
– Plenty of audience interaction + Q&A throughout
The first 6 people to register will receive a FREE ticket to Sunday’s screening.
When: Saturday 21 February | 2:30pm – 5pm
Where: Redfern Town Hall (73 Pitt St, Redfern)
Tickets: $45
All proceeds from this event will support Onir’s travel to Sydney for the Mardi Gras Film Festival.
