Shanul Sharma performs in Rossini in Paris

May 17, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join Sydney Philharmonia Choirs for a special one-off concert celebrating Gioachino Rossini’s fascinating Parisian years, with two works from vastly different phases of his career.

Experience the dramatic sweep of Guillaume Tell (1829), known for its iconic overture made famous by The Lone Ranger, alongside the rarely performed Petite messe solennelle (1864) – Rossini’s joyful, expansive “little” mass, written towards the end of his life.

Conducted by Brett Weymark OAM, this uplifting afternoon features a 450-voice Festival Chorus, the Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra led by violinist Fiona Ziegler, and stellar soloists including Celeste Lazarenko, Ashlyn Tymms, and Opera Australia stars Shanul Sharma and Nathan Lay.

The concert also launches a new collaboration between SPC and Opera Australia, with OA Chorus members joining this spectacular celebration.

Saturday May 17, 2pm – Sydney Opera House Concert Hall
Tickets from $45 ($41 Concession | $30 Under 30s) + booking fee
