Apsaras Arts Dance Company Singapore makes its Australian premiere of AGATHI : REFUGEE
AGATHI: Refugee, is a compelling exploration of the contemporary issues surrounding refugees worldwide. Through music, poetry, and the Indian classical dance form of bharatanatyam, AGATHI seeks to shed light on the lives and struggles of refugees, highlighting their emotional states and the stigma they face.
Inspired by the personal experiences of Apsaras Arts artistic director, Aravinth Kumarasamy, as a former refugee, as well as the poetry written by refugee children published in “A Book of Poems: Expressions from our Youth” by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
AGATHI promises to deliver a poignant and powerful portrayal of the refugee experience.
The Sydney premiere of AGATHI is a fundraiser event in support of UNHCR Australia’s Primary Impact Program, to re-enroll refugee children into education programs in 14 countries globally.
