A leading exponent of the Banaras tradition\, Sangeet Mishra represents the eighth generation in a distinguished lineage of sarangi players. Currently touring from India\, his playing is marked by expressive depth\, subtle ornamentation\, and an intimate connection to the raga form. He is joined by Maharshi Raval\, an accomplished tabla artist known for his sensitivity\, rhythmic precision\, and ability to elevate both solo and accompanying contexts through nuanced interplay. \nIn the second set\, Mustafa Faizi joins the ensemble\, bringing voice and harmonium into dialogue with sarangi and tabla. One of the leading Afghan classical vocalists of his generation\, Mustafa Faizi’s music is rooted in the Patiala Gharana tradition and shaped by the legacy of Ustad Mohammad Hussain Sarahang. His performances are known for their emotional depth\, expansive improvisation\, and the seamless blending of Afghan and Indian classical sensibilities. \nTogether\, the trio will explore the rich landscape of raga – unfolding slowly through alap (unmetered introduction)\, followed by compositions set to intricate rhythmic cycles.
