SUMMARY:Holi Festival Sydney
DESCRIPTION:The Holi Festival Sydney is a vibrant\, family-friendly cultural festival celebrating Holi — the traditional Hindu Festival of Colours\, which marks the arrival of spring\, unity\, joy\, and togetherness. It’s one of Sydney’s most colourful annual community events and is open to people of all ages and backgrounds. \nHoli itself is a centuries-old Hindu festival where people throw coloured powder at each other\, dance\, enjoy music\, and celebrate the victory of good over evil (a tradition celebrated in India\, Nepal and around the world) \n\nWhat Happens There\nColour Play (Main Attraction)\n\n\nThrow eco-friendly coloured powders at friends and new people — the heart of the Holi experience. \n\n\nParticipants usually wear white clothes so the colours stand out! \n\n\nMusic & Entertainment\n\n\nDJs and live music throughout the day to keep the energy high. \n\n\nDance performances and cultural showcases featuring artists from different backgrounds. \n\n\nFood & Drinks\n\n\nA variety of food stalls offering cuisines from around the world — from Indian snacks to international treats. \n\n\nActivities & Fun\n\n\nGiveaways and crowd engagement games. \n\n\nStalls to explore unique items or festival merchandise. \n\n\nHoli After Dark\n\n\nAs night falls\, the event turns into a glow-in-the-dark experience with UV light effects and colourful night-time fun. \n\n\nChill Zones\n\n\nThere’s usually a quieter beer garden area where adults can relax away from the main colour zones. \n\n\nFamily & Community Friendly\n\n\nThe festival focuses on unity in diversity — bringing communities together from all cultures. \n\n\nIt’s suitable for kids\, families\, teens and adults of all ages. \n\n\nTips for Attending\n\n\nWear clothes you don’t mind getting coloured — the powder stains (but washes out). \n\n\nBring sunglasses or protective eyewear — it helps keep powder out of eyes. \n\n\nRegister online before you go — even free events sometimes require a ticket for entry checks. \n\n\nStay hydrated — it can get warm during active colour play. \n\n\nKeep electronics in a sealed bag — colours can get into phones/laptops. \n\n\nCultural Significance of Holi\nThe festival is not just fun — it’s rooted in culture and symbolism: \n\n\nCelebration of spring and renewal. \n\n\nSymbolises the triumph of good over evil (based on Hindu mythology). \n\n\nA time for forgiveness\, unity and new beginnings.

SUMMARY:Biennale of Sydney – Student-Led Art Tours
DESCRIPTION:Art education just got a serious upgrade. As part of Sydney’s most celebrated international art event\, the 25th Biennale of Sydney: Rememory\, students are invited to experience world-class contemporary art up close through specially designed guided tours that bring the exhibitions to life in ways a textbook never could. \nRunning free across five major venues White Bay Power Station\, Art Gallery of NSW\, Chau Chak Wing Museum\, Campbelltown Arts Centre\, and Penrith Regional Gallery the Biennale’s student-led art tours are designed to spark curiosity\, encourage critical thinking\, and build confidence in interpreting contemporary art. Led by artist-educators\, each tour moves students through the exhibition\, encouraging them to observe\, question\, and respond to the works around them. \nAnd for the Indian community\, there is plenty to connect with. Indian collective CAMP and Indian artist Kulpreet Singh are among the 83 artists and collectives from 37 countries whose work features across the Biennale. Perhaps most powerfully\, students will encounter the deeply personal work of Monica Rani Rudhar — an Australian artist of Indian heritage whose three-channel video installation The Fire In Me Was Lit Long Ago traces her grandfather’s journey as a freedom fighter for Indian Independence in 1940s Punjab. Students will also have the rare opportunity to participate in a hands-on crafts workshop led by Rudhar herself\, making their own commemorative prints inspired by objects they love. \nThis is more than a school excursion — it is a chance for young people to see their own stories\, cultures\, and heritage reflected in world-class art\, and to understand that the past is never truly behind us.

SUMMARY:The Offbeat Sari
DESCRIPTION:  \nA major exhibition celebrating the contemporary sari. This exhibition unravels its numerous forms\, demonstrating the sari to be a metaphor for the layered and complex definitions of India today. It brings together the finest saris of our time from designers\, wearers and craftspeople in India.\nIn recent years\, the sari has been reinvented. Designers are experimenting with hybrid forms such as sari gowns and dresses\, pre-draped saris and innovative materials such as steel. People in cities who used to associate the sari with dressing up can now be found wearing saris and sneakers on their commutes to work. Individuals are wearing the sari as an expression of resistance to social norms and activists are embodying it as an object of protest. \nFeaturing more than 50 saris by India’s most renowned designers\, the exhibition includes highlights such as the glamourous designs of Sabyasachi\, Diksha Khanna\, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla\, and Tarun Tahiliani; innovative garments by Anamika Khanna\, Abraham & Thakore\, Raw Mango and Rimzim Dadu; and the iconic hot-pink sari of the Gulabi Gang – a powerful symbol of resistance in India. \nPresented exclusively in Victoria at Bunjil Place\, The Offbeat Sari is a touring exhibition by the Design Museum\, London. Conceived and curated by Priya Khanchandani. \nGET TICKETS HERE: The Offbeat Sari

SUMMARY:Neel Kolhatkar Black Belt Comedy
DESCRIPTION:  \nNeel Kolhatkar loves two things – comedy and martial arts. What he admires most about martial arts is the belt system: a clear marker of skill earned through practice and experience. Neel believes comedy should be no different. \nWith social media flooded by stand-ups of every stripe\, there’s no way to gauge a comedian’s experience and skill level – so why not introduce comedy belts?\nFrom ‘white belts’ telling dad jokes to ‘black belts’ tackling dark\, taboo topics with nuance and precision. \nBlack Belt Comedy is Neel’s personal challenge – to earn the right to say the hardest things in the funniest way. This year’s show dives into cultural quirks\, relationships and modern social dynamics\, all delivered with Neel’s signature impressions\, accents and infectious energy. \nShow contains political\, religious\, sexual jokes and occasional swearing. \nVenue is not wheelchair accessible. \nGET TICKETS HERE: Melbourne International Comedy Festival

SUMMARY:Dilruk Jayasinha Gratitude Guy
DESCRIPTION:Dilruk Jayasinha confidently claims his superpower is “gratitude”. But after taking a break from touring last year\, he realised he has actually spent most of the last few years whinging about his life. To be fair\, his heart attack off the back of a global pandemic\, sprinkled with a hearty serve of heartache from a breakup\, are reasonable ingredients for a solid sook. But in spite of being single and alone at 40\, and as the surgeries and visits to ER seem to keep coming\, he is desperately trying to focus more on what’s going right in his life so he can return to being the GOAT (gratefullest of all time)! \nDilruk Jayasinha has appeared on Utopia and Celebrity MasterChef Australia and filmed a stand-up special for Amazon Prime.
