The veena has a unique tonal quality due to its construction\, starting with a bass sound in the lower octaves and shriller tones in the higher octaves\, very similar to the human voice. The Melbourne Veena Festival is dedicated to showcasing this unique instrument. \nMelbourne Veena Festival 2025 will feature the renowned artist from India\, Ms Hemalatha Mani. The festival will also showcase Australia’s own Iyer Brothers (Ramnath Iyer OAM & Gopinath Iyer OAM) and their disciples. \nHemalatha Mani\, a differently abled artist\, is an illustrious disciple of the Veena Virtuoso Dr Chitti Babu. She is known for her tuneful and sweet melodies on the strings. Iyer Brothers are one of Australia’s finest veena players.
