SUMMARY:Primordial Pulse by Neena Mand (Art Exhibition)
DESCRIPTION:  \nPrimordial Pulse is a solo exhibition by Sydney-based artist and academic Neena Mand\,\npresenting abstract paintings that explore creation as a dynamic\, ongoing process. Neena is a storyteller of space and spirit whose evolving practice moves fluidly between cultural\nmemory\, intuition\, and universal inquiry. \nDeveloped through a restrained visual language\, the works balance geometric structure with fluid movement. Using black\, white\, and gold\, Neena evokes depth\, awareness\, and\nemergence\, allowing forms to appear and dissolve across the surface. \nThe Primordial Pulse series traces creation as a continuum — a vibration moving from\nformlessness to form. Neena invites the viewer to pause\, reflect\, and enter this continuum to feel the vibration of creation\, to encounter the spark that arises between rasa and form\, and to experience the living dialogue between creator\, creation\, and observer. \nREAD MORE: https://art2muse.com.au/artists/neena-mand/

SUMMARY:Songs of the Bulbul – Arts Centre Melbourne
DESCRIPTION:  \nBirdsong is fleeting – like dance\, it exists only in the present\, vanishing as soon as it is sung. \nSongs of the Bulbul is a powerful new dance work by award-winning UK choreographer and dancer Aakash Odedra – a moving meditation on freedom\, love and the soul’s search for the divine. \nInspired by an ancient Sufi myth\, the work tells the story of a bulbul trapped in captivity – a bird longing for spiritual enlightenment. As its final moments draw near\, sorrow gives way to serenity; its last song becomes its sweetest. This poetic tale of beauty and sacrifice reveals freedom found only in ultimate release. \n\nSongs of the Bulbul intertwines the graceful yet powerful art of Kathak dance with Sufi storytelling\, creating a dialogue between the intense physicality of Kathak and the spiritual journey of Sufism. Through a seamless blend of classical Indian music\, Sufi poetry and orchestral composition\, the work invites audiences into a transformative experience that transcends both physical and emotional boundaries. \nFrom Persia to the Indian subcontinent\, from freedom to captivity\, Songs of the Bulbul traces the soul’s journey towards divine love and enlightenment. Odedra’s performance poses a universal question: will we remain confined to the material world like the caged bird\, or will we soar toward liberation and unity with the divine? \nGET TICKETS HERE: Songs of the Bulbul

SUMMARY:The Critics Report
DESCRIPTION:  \nRounding up the year’s most consequential events\, four seasoned critics deliver a live report on the state of play in the arts and culture. \n2025 has certainly been an eventful year in the arts and culture. Australia’s representative at the Venice Biennale was withdrawn and then reappointed. The country’s second oldest literary journal\, Meanjin\, was shuttered\, while Southerly\, its oldest\, has just been rebooted. Here and across the world\, artists and writers have had to contend with the institutional encouragement and enforcement of self-censorship\, while the unauthorised use of copyrighted material to train AI platforms threatens to devalue work that is already under-remunerated.  \nWhat role do critics have to play in this increasingly precarious environment? How does our critical culture help advocate for the importance and independence of creative work? Join the Sydney Review of Books Editors and their special guests — Roanna Gonsalves (Southerly)\, Nick Croggon (Memo Review) and Daniel Browning (University of Sydney\, formerly ABC RN) — for a round-up of the year’s most consequential events in the arts and culture\, and an enlivening discussion about the state of critical play in Australia. \nPresented by Sydney Review of Books.

SUMMARY:Generation Women Australia: On The Road - Wollongong
DESCRIPTION:  \nBehind every story of strength\, there’s often someone who helped us find it\, a friend\, a mentor\, or even a stranger. These stories explore the people and connections that lift us up\, and the surprising ways they shape who we become. \nThis November\, Generation Women Australia: On the Road comes to Wollongong with a powerful line-up of six local Illawarra women — in their 20s\, 30s\, 40s\, 50s\, 60s\, and 70s+ — stepping on stage to share stories of strength\, connection\, and courage. \nThrough laughter\, tears and truth-telling\, you’ll hear how community and relationships can transform us — and be reminded that none of us has to face life alone. \nExpect to laugh. Expect to cry. And expect to leave with a deeper sense of the ties that hold us together\, and the strength we gain from one another. \nThis special event is proudly presented in partnership with West Street Centre and funded by Create NSW. \n💫 Our Performer Line-up: \nTBA \nAbout Generation Women \nGeneration Women is a global storytelling movement that celebrates women’s voices across the decades. \nFounded in New York in 2017\, Generation Women launched in Sydney in 2018 and Melbourne in 2020. Every show features six storytellers — one from each decade of life\, from her 20s to her 70s+ — sharing original stories on a shared theme. \nWhy Generation Women Australia? \nGeneration Women Australia is proudly award-winning and is the only chapter in the world to offer an ongoing membership program\, giving our community even more ways to connect\, belong and grow between shows. \nThis event is proudly presented by Generation Women Australia\, founded by Donna Logue\, and hosted by Inez.\n\nGeneration Women was originally created by Georgia Clark in New York. \nGET TICKETS: https://www.generationwomenaus.com/nov25/p/wollongong

SUMMARY:An Evening with William Dalrymple
DESCRIPTION:  \nFrom 250 BCE to 1200 CE\, India was not merely a land of spiritual depth but a dynamic hub of innovation and exchange. Its contributions in mathematics\, astronomy\, medicine\, art and philosophy traversed the vast expanse from the Red Sea to the Pacific\, shaping cultures and ideas across continents. \nJoin one of the worlds most celebrated historians\, William Dalrymple\, for an illuminating evening as he delves into the rich tapestry of ancient Indian civilisation. Drawing upon a lifetime immersed in Indian culture and studying its history. \nDalrymple offers a panoramic view of India’s profound influence on the world as explored in his chart-topping podcast Empire and bestselling books including The Golden Road\, The Anarchy\, Return of a King and The Last Mughal. \nWeaving narratives of emperors\, monks\, merchants and scholars\, bringing to life the stories of India’s golden age\, Dalrymple examines how Indian thought influenced global traditions\, from the architectural marvels of Angkor Wat to the philosophical underpinnings of distant societies. \nThis event is more than a historical recount; it’s an exploration of how ancient India’s legacy continues to resonate today. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or a curious mind\, don’t miss this opportunity to gain insights from a master storyteller who brings the past vividly into the present. \nAn Evening with William Dalrymple promises to be a compelling journey through time\, revealing the enduring impact of India’s ancient wisdom on our modern world. \nGET TICKETS HERE: https://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=WBHDALRY25

SUMMARY:Agnipankh (Play)
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce our last production of the year ‘Agnipankh’ (the Phoenix) a two act Marathi play by the late P.L. Mayekar. Performed in Marathi with English side-titles. Early bird discount available now.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis play is a character study of the central character Baisaheb (played by Reshma Parulekar) who is a powerful matriarch of a wealthy landowner family. She exerts control over the estate and family business\, as well as the lives of her children and alcoholic husband Raosaheb (played by Dilip Sonar). Baisaheb holds strong traditional views on caste and family pride\, but her control is slowly challenged by a changing world.\n\n\nOriginally\, the play (written in the 1980’s) was set in Post-independence 1948 India around the time of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. The social-political environment & anti-Brahmin sentiment form a backdrop of the events in the original setting.\n\n\nFor this production\, director Mandar Gokhale has transplanted the action to rural Victoria around the time of recent devastating bushfires. The dialogue is largely unchanged\, which will provide some challenges for audiences in terms of content in the present society we live in. The overall character study will be preserved and provide a night of powerful drama. The Phoenix is the mythic bird that spreads fiery wings and dies in flames\, only to be reborn again in its own ashes.\n\n\n\nBook soon to secure the best seats: https://www.trybooking.com/DEAHQ
