Reading Time: 2 minutesTelstra’s Dhamakedaar event with Brett Lee at the Centenary Square, Parramatta brought on a burst of vibrant colour, energy and activity to the local community on Thursday 26th February

500 Australian South Asians attended the event and enjoyed Cricket, music, food and technology in the heart of Parramatta at Centenary Square.
Many cricket fans tried their luck at fast bowling hoping to win their chance to meet Brett Lee. The fast bowling competition was a big hit as locals showed off their speeds at the bowling stand while learning more about Telstra’s 4GX networks speeds – twice as fast as 4G.
All players bowled to the desi beats by the SBS PopDesi DJ who was spinning out one favourite track after another. The three top bowlers won their chance to meet Brett Lee – Dan Cunningham, Shafiq Khan and Pawandeep Singh!

Three other lucky people, who entered an online competition prior to the event, met Brett Lee as well – Rajesh Kumar, Path Preet and Sachinkumar Patel. The excitement was high as the winners got onto the stage and asked Brett Lee their winning questions, one even tried to dance with Brett Lee, as the crowd cheered on.
The cricket legend also did a brief interview with MC Nick Brown and shared his love for cricket. In his question to Brett Lee, Nick said, “Telstra is known for their tagline ‘It’s how we connect’ and this event today is just another way that Telstra is connecting with the South Asian community. What’s your favourite way to connect with India in South Asia?” To which Brett said, “The way I connect with India is through cricket and sport and every time I go back to India, I do my charity work as well. I have come to love the country in so many ways.”

The other activities at the event included the Telstra Tech Bar, a hub with demonstrations from Sony of the XperiaZ3 and XperiaZ3 Compact, Remote Play and SmartWear. The crowd enjoyed free Wifi and many who checked in to the event, went into a draw to win a Sony Prize pack valued at $1,500. The aromas of Kathi rolls and samosa chaat whetted the appetites of the crowd as they explored great dining and shopping offers around the Parramatta area, with the Telstra Treats app. Lots of other goodies and prizes were up for grabs such as Moonlight Cinema double passes.
