The Indian Link Media Group took home the Best Print Publication award at the NSW Premier’s Multicultural Media Awards held in Sydney on 25 June.

This award is Indian Link’s 15th multicultural award since 2011.

NSW Premier Mike Baird and Minister for Multiculturalism John Ajaka announced the winners at a gala event at Doltone House in the Sydney CBD.

“A record 128 entries were submitted this year across 12 categories and I would like to congratulate all of our winners and finalists for their outstanding efforts,” Mr Baird said.

CEO Pawan Luthra said, “This is truly the icing on the cake. I’m particularly happy our 15th award is for Best Print, because it is one we haven’t won before, even though we’ve been shortlisted as finalists in previous years.”

Editor Rajni Anand Luthra said, “My heartfelt thanks to our core team at the office, Antoinette Mullins, Vivek Trivedi, Kira Spucys-Tahar, Preeti Jabbal, Preeta Nair, Ashish Chawla, Danielle Cairis, Nitika Sondhi, Glenn Hunt, Neelam Vasudevan and Kerry Nolan. Not only are they talented and long-time faithfuls to the cause, they are all very hard-working (going by the late-night pizza boxes in the trash!)”

She added, “A special shout-out to our 80 plus contributors across the country. We couldn’t have done this without you all! You continue to bring us impressive stories, keeping watch on our community and engaging with our new home. Your work sends out the message that the Indian community in Australia not only keeps its heritage alive, but is willing and able to integrate well in the wider mainstream. Let’s continue doing what we have become so good at, and continue to work even harder to attain higher laurels.”

Thanks as well to our readers and supporters, in the Indian community and outside, who have stood by us for over twenty years now. We look forward to continuing to build and nurture the Indian-Australian relationship.

In previous years Indian Link has won NSW Premier’s Multicultural Awards for Best Print Report, Best Use of Online and Digital Media, Young Journalist of the Year for Ritam Mitra, Best News Report, Best Online Publication of the Year and Best Image of the Year.

Indian Link has also been honoured at the Victorian Multicultural Awards with a Media Excellence Award for Preeti Jabbal, and at the Parliament of NSW Multicultural Media Awards winning Best Coverage of Community Affairs Abroad, Online Innovation in Website Design, Best Editorial/News Reporting and Multicultural Journalist of the Year for Pawan Luthra.
