Liverpool Council is calling on young people in the community to get involved in a fantastic range of events on offer for Youth Week 2016
“Youth Week is a great opportunity for young people to showcase their talents, express their views on issues that affect their lives and participate in activities and events,” said Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun.
“Our young people are an essential part of the future of Liverpool. By encouraging innovative thinking and positive participation in the community through events like Youth Week, we can support them to help move the community forward.
“This year, Liverpool Council is running a number of great activities to celebrate Youth Week. I encourage local young people to find out what’s on and see what they would like to be involved in.
“There are some fantastic events to choose from, including the Amazing Race, a unique cultural feast, a dance competition and a celebration to unveil the winner of the Inaugural Borrowed Wall Art Prize.
Liverpool’s Youth Week events are held as part of National Week to celebrate the theme: ‘It starts with us’. Youth Week runs from April 8 to 17 and is the largest celebration of young people aged 12-25 years in Australia.
Council has partnered with a number of local organisations to run the 2016 Youth Week events, including Liverpool Youth Council, The Street University, Liverpool, Headspace Liverpool, The Junction Works, South West Connect, Cucina 105, Street University, Green Valley Police, Liverpool PCYC, Westside Youth Centre, UpFront Youth, Anglicare/Reconnect, SWYPE Mission Australia, CPAC Youth and Taste Food Tours.
