I was privileged to be a part of the first event hosted by PS3 in 2014, held at Notting Hill Neighbourhood House on the 27th of Feb 2014. PS3 (positivity, strength, support and synergy) is a volunteer group of four empowering women with the mission of bringing together Indian women of all ages living in Melbourne, to empower them through a series of forums that cover relevant topics that will make a difference in their lives. These topics relate to anything from bringing up children in a western society to information about life-threatening diseases like cancer. There is a distinct tone of optimism and inspiration in the mission of these ladies to reach out to their compatriots.

The first forum of the PS3 invited Ranjana Goel as guest speaker. Ranjana is a professional, but also a celebrant, a healer, and an empowered woman with a great personality. Her topic was on ‘How to maintain balance in one’s life’. She spoke about how to take care of the self whilst understanding that life experiences, learning and choices matter in creating a healthy balance in an individual. She provided great insights on how to create awareness in oneself which not only aids in enhancing balance, but also helps in making a difference to society.

Ranjana’s topic generated a lot of discussion amongst the 12-15 attendees with lots of discussion. Questions such as “How can we achieve balance?” and “What factors lead to achieving personal balance” received adept responses. She created an atmosphere of lively chatter, interaction and ideas that helped attendees think beyond the box. In conclusion, Ranjana provided details about her program called Swayam which has helped numerous people find balance in their lives.

“Thank you Ranjana, for giving us such a great insight on maintaining balance in our lives”, was the general sentiment of those attending the forum at its conclusion. Well done to PS3 for creating such a forum that is free and empowering for Indian women, and to Ranjana for sharing her insights and making the event a successful one.
